Hypnotherapy As a Migraine Solution is the process of bringing yourself in a trance-like state – one that resembles sleep – through suggestions to the mind. Much to the surprise of some, this technique has been used by some migraine sufferers to eliminate the pain.
How could self-hypnosis do the trick?
Self-hypnosis enables the individual to tap into their subconscious mind, know the root of the negative emotions and later release the pain linked to the emotion. This emotion is what may be giving you stress that sets off the migraine.
How do I do it?
- Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down.
- Close your eyes.
- Take several deep breaths.
- Focus on each inhale and exhale.
- The concentrated breathing exercise will bring a much lighter and calmer state.
- Envision a ray of white light go into your body from the top of your head.
- Allow the light to run throughout your body.
- Imagine the light cleansing your entire body of all the amassed anxiety and pain.
- Visualize that light departing from your body from the soles of your feet, bringing with it all the stocked up negative energy and emotions.
- You should be experiencing an exceptionally relaxed state of mind.
- Direct your attention on the body part that is hurting.
- Imagine that this ache is a huge red ball.
- Resume your deep breathing.
- Picture that the red ball is slowly getting smaller as you breathe out.
- Feel the ache dissipate with the ball’s size.
- Keep on performing this exercise until the ball vanishes.
- Together with the ball, so will your pain also disappear or be more tolerable.
You may want to record these instructions on tape as the pain may interfere with your concentration. Allow 2-3 minutes interval for each step. Practice makes perfect. Keep on trying until you get it. Just because this is a natural migraine remedy means it will be easy.
